The simple answer to this is that they are absolutely ideal. All the evidence is pointing towards drying wood more before burning to reduce the particulate pollution contained in the smoke.

As a wood burner yourself, you also make a great saving when buying kiln dried firewood logs, as you will benefit from a greater heat ouput per log as less energy is required to evaporate off the water first.

The additional benefit, especially if burning larch or pine, is that you drastically reduce the risk of creasote build up in your flue.

Creosote is created in the the smoke of softwoods in the prescence of water vapour (steam) and cool conditions.

Kiln drying firewood logs has the effect of raising your flue temperature keeping the creasote away.
